Outdoor Events:-
Activity Days
Ripley Castle's undulating parkland makes it the ideal venue for so many outdoor activities, and you couldn't wish for a finer setting or backcloth, with the castle reflected in the water of the lower lake and the deer grazing under the majestic oak and beech. The list of activities available for corporate or private groups to choose from includes clay pigeon shooting, archery, four-wheel drive vehicle courses, quad bikes and one-man hovercraft. The day starts with coffee and bacon butties at the castle on arrival, lunch is also served in the castle, and the final prizegiving is conducted over a very civilised cup of tea.
Concerts, Shows, and Classic Car Rallies
There can be few lovelier settings for any event than the natural amphitheatres in Ripley's 120 acre park.
The show field pastures slope gradually down to the lower lake, and Ripley Castle rises majestically above the water's edge to the south and east. The whole area is ring-fenced by park wall and deer fencing, and access and egress can be gained from the A61 or B6165. There is a good stone road network on the site and there is ample room for car parking: the ground is very free-draining. The BBC Homes and Antiques Grand Summer Fair is held here each June and attracts nine thousand people (a high percentage of whom are ABC1 with a high disposable income) over four days. This part of Yorkshire isn't known as 'The Golden Triangle' for nothing!
The Last Night of the Proms concert is also held here every July and it regularly attracts 5,000-6,000 people, and we have also enjoyed great success over the years with Sealed Knot Civil War Battles, International Scout Camps, Classic Car Rallies, Carriage Driving Trials, Family Fun Days, Charity Balls, Dramatic Productions and Numerous Shows and Fairs.
