The East Wing: a 21st Century Venue in an Astonishing Historic Setting.

The East Wing is the most exciting development to have taken place at Ripley Castle for two hundred years. It took twenty years of planning and three years of sensitive and intricate building work and £2.5 million to turn that dream into reality. We can promise you: you will be as excited as we are when you see it.

The Long Gallery is accessible from the Castle's courtyard, that you enter by way of the Castle's 15th Century Gatehouse.

Three imposing doorways, sealed for seventy-five years while the building fell into disrepair, have been opened out to let plenty of sunlight into the main reception area.

A magnificent staircase, inspired by the Castle's cantilevered main staircase and incorporating some of Ripley's distinctive architectural features, takes you up to the spectacular Long Gallery on the first floor. A passenger lift has been installed nearby to make life easy for those who can't cope with the stairs.

The Long Gallery is awesome. The original roof trusses high up in the central tower have been painstakingly restored and retained, and the gothic arched windows offer fantastic views over the Castle Courtyard, Gatehouse and Church to the South. To the north there are spectacular views over the lakes and deer park. It is light, airy and very spacious: and it easily accommodates 120 people - see the room layouts section.

It has been set up to meet the needs of today's event organiser: quiet air circulation unit, excellent acoustics by design, in-built PA system for amplification and adjustable lighting from near darkness to as bright as you want it. The Bar downstairs has been cunningly incorporated into the original stable dividers, the hay racks and troughs retained to make this a bar like no other.

The Amcotts Room is very similar in character to the Long Gallery: light and airy with excellent views on both sides, spectacular exposed roof trusses exhibiting craftsmanship of a standard seldom seen today. It is a perfect self-contained venue and like the Long Gallery, it has been designed with the event organiser's needs very much in mind, combining flexibility, accessibility and convenience. It is a spectacular setting.
